ASQ Raleigh is donating $2800 in support of our section’s Community Good Works improvement project with the Durham Crisis Response Center (DCRC) http://www.durhamcrisisresponse.org/.

DCRC is the only non-profit agency in the Durham community that provides safe shelter and support services for victims and their families in the aftermath of domestic and sexual violence.

Six Sigma SIG Meeting

2006-7 Year In Review : ASQ Raleigh’s business year concludes June 30, 2007

Quality in Triangle              May 22nd, 2007  

Around 125 people attended the QIT event in May. Topics included Lean & Six Sigma, Manufacturing/FDA/Healthcare Quality, and Value Mapping.

Good Works Programs         Two Kicked Off this Year!

Volunteers assisted Good Works Chair Kevin Hopkins with beginning two Community Good Works Projects.

ASQ Raleigh is the first section to take on two projects in a single year! Great job!

Website Update                   New Site in Place, New Functionality!

Based on ASQ Raleigh’s continual efforts to improve our communications strategies, we have invested in upgrading our ASQ Website.

Membership 11% Increase in Membership!

In July 2006, the section began the year with 864 members. Over the course of the year, we have seen (as of May) a 11% increase in membership! This is huge when compared to the ASQ National Growth Rate of 0.1%! Keep up the great work recruiting co-workers or join the volunteer community to help keep this ASQ growth alive!

Programs 2006-7

Three tours and five professional dinner meetings were held from September through April. Tours were held at NCSU Dairy, Elster Electricity, and EMC. Topics included ADA Compliance, Networking, Awards, Lean Six Sigma, ISO 27001, Sales, and SWOT Analysis. The section had record attendance at the December Dinner meeting with more than 50 people attending!

ASQ Raleigh Member Award

Distinguished Service Award Presented to Bill McCalla of Intertek Systems Certification

If you have taken an ASQ Certification in the Raleigh section at some point in the past 6 years you will have likely met Bill McCalla. He has provided a wonderful service to the section by receiving, verifying, administering and returning to National the ASQ Certifications four Saturdays every year. Because of his commitment and dedication to the ASQ membership, the ASQ Leadership Council was unanimous in their approval of awarding Bill with this plaque.
