Audit Program Manager 2007 – 2009
Reported to the Director of Audit Program Management and VP, Corporate Quality. Often selected to lead industry best practice studies and improvement projects. Conducted internal audits to support EMC’s ISO certifications.
• Selected by VP of Quality to lead a benchmarking effort on industry best life cycle practices, performed extensive research and analysis. Delivered an extensive report including short and long-term strategies for improving and maintaining EMC’s product life cycle.
• Designed and led an industry best practices study on Cost of Quality Models, comparing internal performance to industry performance, and reported back to senior management.
• Chosen by new VP of Quality to lead a team to re-brand the Corporate Quality Web Site, which resulted in: breakthrough improvement, increased visibility, improved user access and increased customer satisfaction.
• Planned, conducted, and completed all assigned internal audits on schedule or early.
Principal Software Engineer 2004 – 2007
Reported to VP, Business Operations. Led several business process improvement efforts spanning EMC’s four software business units, resulting in standardization of the product life cycle.
• Chartered by the VP of Business Operations to lead a team to create a corporate standard for product defect classification.
• Requested by Director of Engineering to design and develop a central repository for all software process assets used by the four business units, resulting in a process asset library containing process documents, templates, examples, and guidelines.
Senior Software Engineer 1997 - 2005
Reported to Director of Software and Manager of Process Improvement. Led several cross-functional software process improvement efforts resulting in defined processes, cycle time reductions, fewer released defects, and two awards for outstanding performance.
• Received award for leading a team of Release Managers who defined and improved the Release Process, improving repeatability and reducing cycle time.
• Award recipient for conducting an industry best practices benchmark on Agile/Iterative Development Models, which resulted in specific recommendations for evolving the current waterfall development model.
• Led several cross-functional teams resulting in improving the Development Testing Process, EMC’s Software Program Life Cycle, Software, Inspections & Reviews, and more.
• Often called upon by senior management to perform Root Cause Analysis, Benchmarking, and Team Facilitation to support their process improvement efforts.

MOTOROLA, Mansfield, MA 1993 – 1996
Senior Staff Software Engineer, promoted to Principal Software Engineer
Reported to Director of Quality Assurance. Performed software process audits and CMM-based assessments in support of a 600-person division. Assured process compliance and Six Sigma goals were met. Instrumental in the organization achieving SEI Level 2 and Level 3, resulting in a significant increase in the organization’s process capability and a reduction in defects. Initiated improvements in Software Project Planning and Requirements Management.
