Speaker: Tom Caffey, BSIE, MBA, CSSBB, CQE
About the Speaker:
Mr. Caffey graduated from the University of Tennessee then began his career as an Industrial Engineer producing Reynolds Wrap in Hot Springs, Arkansas. After three years, he transferred to the Louisville, Kentucky Foil Plant as the Industrial Engineering Manager. Mr. Caffey worked at Reynolds for 10 years in various capacities including engineering, maintenance, and materials planning leadership. After Reynolds, he joined a British multinational, GKN Automotive, producing CV joints and shafts. He held various leadership positions including Operations and Value Stream Management during his tenure at GKN. Through GKN, he gained experience in Lean as part of BAMA (http://www.bama-group.org/About%20BAMA.htm) and GKN’s Lean Enterprise program. While at GKN, he earned ASQ certifications as both a Certified Quality Engineer and as a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt. The cumulative experience with lean and Six Sigma served as an excellent foundation to enter the medical field’s array of opportunities. Mr. Caffey currently serves as a Senior Management Engineer with UNC Healthcare in Chapel Hill, NC, specializing in continuous improvement initiatives in alignment with the business goals.
