Six Sigma SIG Update

Six Sigma SIG is our ASQ Raleigh Chapter’s special interest group that focuses on Six Sigma and Lean Six Sigma methodologies. In our meetings we showcase our members and special guest’s project work as well as tutorials on new and cutting edge quality tools.

Our meetings are very informal with a lot of question and answer time allowing us to delve deeply into some very interesting topics.  Please be a part of our growing and interesting group. We look forward to seeing you at our next meeting.

Presenter:  Ramkumar Jayaraman

Presenter Bio:  Ramkumar Jayaraman and his colleagues are from the Quality and Engineering Group at ABB. 

Presentation Title:   Waste Reduction using JIDOKA

Presentation Summary:  Continuing with the Spring theme of project presentations from members of the SixSigma Special Interest group, Ramkumar Jayaraman and his colleague from a Quality and Engineering group at ABB will be presenting on a couple of their current projects. We will learn about the use of JIDOKA as a Gatekeeper with Andon for Production Line Quality Control:  Automation with a human touch, Jidoka is a key pillar of the Toyota Production System and when combined with appropriate alarms (Andon) provides an effective mechanism for maintaining high quality and preventing runaway waste.  We will also hear about a SAP warranty processes that are used to eliminate waste.

 Date: Tuesday, March 28, 2017

Time: 5:30pm with 30 minutes of socializing and promptly begin the presentations at 6:00pm.  Typically we are finished between 7:00pm and 7:30pm depending on discussion and question time.
