Six Sigma SIG Update
Six Sigma SIG is our ASQ Raleigh Chapter’s special interest group that focuses on Six Sigma and Lean Six Sigma methodologies. In our meetings we showcase our members and special guest’s project work as well as tutorials on new and cutting edge quality tools.
Our meetings are very informal with a lot of question and answer time allowing us to delve deeply into some very interesting topics. Please be a part of our growing and interesting group. We look forward to seeing you at our next meeting.

Presenter: Joe Bastante
Presenter Bio: Joseph Bastante a Certified Six Sigma Black belt serving as Chief Technology Officer at BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina. Through his more than 25 years of professional experience, Joseph has led and delivered change in large and highly matrixed organizations. His particular area of expertise driving organization and technology change in response to business strategic objectives.
Presentation Title: Applicability of Artificial Intelligence Methods to Six Sigma
Presentation Summary: Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning specifically are topics of much discussion and speculation. Though expectations of AI remain unrealistic at times, tools and methods have matured significantly in recent years and they are providing value to organizations in every industry. Machine Learning methods overlap in part with analytic methods used in Six Sigma. This presentation will explore methods common to both Machine Learning and Six Sigma and will discuss the potential use of Machine Learning algorithms not traditionally applied in Six Sigma.
Date: April 24, 2018
Time: 5:30pm with 30 minutes of socializing and promptly begin the presentations at 6:00pm. Typically we are finished between 7:00pm and 7:30pm depending on discussion and question time.
