Six Sigma SIG Update
Six Sigma SIG is our ASQ Raleigh Chapter’s special interest group that focuses on Six Sigma and Lean Six Sigma methodologies. In our meetings we showcase our members and special guest’s project work as well as tutorials on new and cutting edge quality tools.
Our meetings are very informal with a lot of question and answer time allowing us to delve deeply into some very interesting topics. Please be a part of our growing and interesting group. We look forward to seeing you at our next meeting.

Presenter: Fred Rich
Presenter Bio: Fred Rich is the Quality Manager and 35-year employee of Gregory Poole Equipment Company. He is an ASQ CSSBB and CMQ&OE and is currently a PhD candidate in Technology Management-Quality Systems at Indiana State University. Fred also has a Bachelor’s in Biological and Agricultural Engineering from NC State and a Master’s in Technology Systems-Performance Improvement.
Presentation Title: A value stream transformation example at Gregory Poole
Presentation Summary: A value stream transformation is a complex application of Six Sigma Lean tools to align and increase efficiencies in upstream and downstream sub-processes. The cumulative effect of the multiple improvements transforms the value stream into a new desired future state. This presentation will exemplify one such transformation. One of our departments at Gregory Poole is our Hydraulic Cylinder shop. We will have a short presentation explaining the project followed by a tour of this high production service shop.
Date: April 23, 2019
Time: 5:30pm with 30 minutes of socializing and promptly begin the presentations at 6:00pm. Typically we are finished between 7:00pm and 7:30pm depending on discussion and question time.
Location: Please notice this April meeting is held at a different location of Gregory Poole, within a short distance from the previous location.
