Six Sigma SIG Update

Six Sigma SIG is our ASQ Raleigh Chapter’s special interest group that focuses on Six Sigma and Lean Six Sigma methodologies. In our meetings we showcase our members and special guest’s project work as well as tutorials on new and cutting edge quality tools.  Share your Six Sigma experiences with ASQ SIG. Tell us about your Six Sigma and Lean project success or get help with issues.

Our meetings are very informal with a lot of question and answer time allowing us to delve deeply into some very interesting topics.  Please be a part of our growing and interesting group. We look forward to seeing you at our next meeting.

We will hold this meeting as a WEBINAR using WebEx. Please register by Sunday May 17. You will receive the webinar WebEx information on Monday May 18 (the day before the meeting). The meeting location will not be at Gregory Poole. Everyone is attending it virtually.

Presentation Title: Visualizing COVID-19 Data: Pitfalls and blindspots in representing hot data

Presentation Summary:

In this talk I will take you on a graphic tour of one of the most graphed data sets that has been curated by Johns Hopkins. As the pandemic spread, the graphics used to tell the story were continually refined to try to represent data without unintentional bias. We will look at the pitfalls of presenting data on maps, and the traps that assumptions about the data will lead to.
