Position Description 2016
Chair Serve as chief executive officer of the section. Oversee all aspects of section management and lead all member leaders. Function as primary contact for regional director and headquarters. Mark Morton

Vice Chair / QMP Chair Vice Chair oversees the QMP, is first responder to questions submitted to info@asqraleigh.org and performs other functions as required Joey Martin
Treasurer Oversee section funds. Maintain accurate section financial records. Report on financial condition of the section at times directed by the bylaws and policies and procedures. Joy Young
Secretary Document section business and maintain records of the section. Serve as the official correspondent of the section. Wendy Haines
Arrangements Oversees arrangements for all regular meetings of the section and other special programs and conferences as assigned by the Section Leadership Committee or other committee chairs. Lilli Abdullahi
Audit The Audit Chair coordinates and manages the audit of section financial information as determined by Society policies and procedures. Bob Carter
Certification Coordinates and manages section activities related to the ASQ certification program. Heather Payne
Communications Coordinate a communication and messaging strategy for section. Sukonya Gogoi
Community Good Works Responsible for establishing and coordinating Good Works project initiation, communication, staff sourcing and interfacing with national ASQ for grant applications. Bill Michaud
Education Plans and implements educational programs for the Section such as conferences and/or special seminars, courses, and webinars.

Food Bank Coordinate member volunteer events with the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina Mary Chris Easterly / Jim Murrell

Membership Responsible for section recruitment and retention efforts Kelli Collin
Mentor Committee Oversees mentor program within the section. The Mentor program is a committee of experienced quality professionals who introduce ASQ into the community to educate the value ASQ holds as well as build expertise within the member section aiding in the growth of the body of knowledge Joanne Mayo
Newsletter Ensure that section members receive an informative newsletter on a consistent and timely basis by coordinating the content, publication, and mailing of the section newsletter in a manner consistent with the member’s preferences for communication. Sanford (Sandy) Waddell
Nominations Identifies and nominates, with the nominating committee, qualified individuals for the minimally required elected section positions of chair, secretary, and treasurer. Individual section policies will determine if other positions are necessary, i.e. Chair-elect and/or Vice Chair. Jim Murrell
Placement Coordinates the sections job placement program to facilitate access to professional opportunities for your section members and assist area companies with recruiting quality professionals. Angela Lucas
Programs Responsible for planning and implementing programs and activities of the section Doug McCorquodale
Publicity Ensure that section meetings and programs are publicized through a variety of media outlets reaching the membership and local community in a timely manner. Helen Sims
Quality Conference Oversees arrangements for yearly Quality Conference in the Triangle. Mike Porter
Recertification / Examining Advises section members on the qualifications of advancement in membership grade and makes recommendations to the Society’s Examining Committee Chair for advancement in to the membership grade of Fellow. Fred Rich
SIG Six sigma The SIG chair coordinates six sigma and lean discussion topics lead by facilitators using examples of past or current projects. The goal is to generate 2 way dialog and best practice sharing. Byron Wingerd
Social Media and Eventbrite Manages the chapter’s social media platforms and owns the chapter’s EventBrite account to post details about events, conferences etc. Pam Schodt
Student Section Role is to work with the ASQ Executive Committee to reach students in local colleges and high schools to develop the relationship and bridge the generation gap in order to create and spread quality within and outside educational institutions Mark Morton
Scholarship Manage the award of section scholarships and coordinate communications with local community regarding scholarship opportunities Wendy Haines
Voice of the Customer Chair Promote member unit and Society research opportunities, participate in questionnaire development, and conduct analysis that will provide useful and applicable information to member units and the Society through collaborative voice of the customer efforts. Joey Martin
Website Maintain website, provide technical support for member leaders who post to website, provide training as required. Updates website calendar.
